What are the differences between the Full Service and Go! locations?

Harbor Fitness provides two unique fitness club models designed for diverse fitness enthusiasts. The Full Service model includes amenities like a comprehensive Group Fitness program, complimentary Towel Service, larger facilities, and some locations feature a dry sauna. The Bay Ridge 92nd location also offers a Steam Room. Both the Full Service and Go! models are equipped with state-of-the-art fitness equipment, ensuring a high-quality workout experience.  The Go! locations are priced lower since they do not have as many amenities as their Full Service counterparts.  Take a virtual tour to see some of the great pieces of Fitness Equipment made by top Health Club manufacturers like Hammer Strength, Life Fitness, Precor, Nautilus and Cybex. https://www.harborfitness.com/virtual-tours

Do I need to bring my own towel?

Members may bring their own towel if preferred. Our full-service locations provide complimentary towel service, including large bath towels, smaller workout towels, and chilled eucalyptus-infused towels, perfect for post-workout refreshment.

What is the difference between a steam room or dry sauna?

A dry sauna is perfect if you want intense heat and a big sweat, while a steam room is better if you prefer a softer, moist heat that’s easier on your breathing. Both are perfect for stress relief and recovery, just in different ways.  Check out our website to see each locations full list of amenities.

What is the locker policy?

All locations have a large number of lockers available for daily use only.  Members are required to remove all belongings at the end of their visit unless the member has purchased a rental locker, provided the club has any available.  The club may clear out lockers nightly, storing or disposing of items left behind for 15-days.    Members are expected to keep lockers clean, avoiding wet, odorous, or perishable items to prevent odors or pests.

Members may rent a locker for a monthly fee, with pricing based on locker size: $9 for a cube locker, $14 for a half locker, and $19 for a full locker. These rentable lockers allow members to store items overnight or longer, unlike day-use lockers, which must be cleared after each visit. Members renting a locker must maintain an active gym membership. Lockers are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and if no lockers are readily available, interested members will be placed on a wait list and notified when a locker becomes available.

Harbor Fitness is not liable for lost, stolen, or damaged items, so members are advised to secure their belongings and avoid storing valuables, perishable items, hazardous materials, or anything prohibited by gym policy.

Do any of the locations have a parking lot?

Yes, we offer convenient parking options at select locations!  Our Mill Basin location provides complimentary parking in a massive parking lot which surrounds the building.  Additionally, our Bay Ridge 92nd street facility offers discounted validated parking at the attended parking garage next door – just $5 for 2 hours.

What are some proper sauna etiquette practices members must follow?

Sauna etiquette is crucial for ensuring a comfortable, respectful, and safe experience for all users. Always shower before entering the sauna to maintain hygiene and prevent body oils or sweat from affecting the shared space. Wear appropriate attire, such as a clean towel, swimsuit, or sauna-specific clothing, and avoid entering in workout clothes soaked with sweat or street clothes. Shower shoes should only be warn inside the sauna if you do not want to walk barefoot. Sit or lie on a clean towel to keep the benches sanitary, as direct skin contact can spread germs. Respect personal space by avoiding crowding others and keeping a reasonable distance, especially in smaller saunas. Keep noise to a minimum—conversations should be quiet and brief to preserve the relaxing atmosphere.  The use of phones and electronic devices is strictly prohibited in the sauna.  Be mindful of time, typically limiting your session to 10-15 minutes to allow others access, especially during busy periods, and follow any posted time limits. Refrain from eating, drinking (except water), or using lotions, oils, or scented products, as these can create messes or trigger sensitivities. When entering or leaving, open and close the door quickly to maintain the heat and avoid disrupting others. Members are not permitted to sprinkle water on the walls, seating areas or ovens.  Failure to adhere to this rule may lead to membership cancellation.  Finally, be courteous to fellow users and staff, reporting any issues like spills or equipment malfunctions promptly. These practices foster a respectful and enjoyable sauna environment for everyone.

What are some examples of proper Gym Weight Room Etiquette?

Proper gym etiquette is essential for creating a respectful, safe, and enjoyable environment for all members. To maintain hygiene and organization, always clean up after yourself by wiping down equipment like benches, machines, and cardio devices with provided disinfectant wipes or sprays, returning weights, dumbbells, and accessories to their proper racks, and disposing of trash, such as water bottles or towels, in designated bins. Respecting personal space is crucial—avoid crowding others, refrain from standing directly in front of someone using a mirror, and keep conversations brief to avoid interrupting workouts. Sharing equipment is another key practice; allow others to “work in” on machines or weights during your rest periods. To minimize disruptions, keep noise levels low by avoiding weight dropping, limiting loud grunting, and using headphones for music instead of playing it out loud. Following gym rules and safety guidelines is vital, including adhering to age restrictions (e.g., guests must be 18 or older with valid ID), wearing appropriate attire like closed-toe shoes and athletic clothing, and following equipment instructions or seeking staff assistance when needed. Be mindful of time and space by limiting phone use to avoid lingering on equipment, keeping walkways and stretching areas clear of belongings, and sticking to designated areas for specific activities like stretching or lifting. By following these practices, you contribute to a positive gym culture, allowing everyone to focus on their fitness goals. If you’re new to a gym, observe its unique culture or consult staff for any additional rules.
